Located at the main entrance to the UGA north campus on Broad St. opposite College Ave. The famous Arch, which has become the symbol of the University of Georgia, was installed in the 1850s, when the front of the campus was enclosed with an iron fence. The Arch was patterned after the arch on Georgia's state seal. Originally, the three columns held two iron gates, but these soon disappeared.
